Faithful scanning: the NF Z42-026 standard

The NF Z42-026 standard relating to faithful copying defines the specifications and technical parameters enabling the digitization of paper documents with probative value and guaranteeing the integrity of a faithful digital copy.

This approach aims to give the digital file the same legal value as the original paper file. The final objective is naturally towards destroying physical documents and making the files available online.

This standard only covers the entire document dematerialization process. After scanning, you have complete freedom to digitally archive the files on the solution of your choice: Servers, EDM, SAE, etc.

We advise you, of course, to complete this operation with archiving on an SAE. (see standard NF Z42-013)

How to implement the NF Z42-026 standard

Digitization Convention

Scanning to PDF in archive format

The probative value of the digital file translates into two actions.

The first is scanning into PDF archive format, also called PDF/A.

PDF/A is an ISO version of PDF used for archiving and long-term preservation. PDF/A prevents features unsuitable for long-term archiving, such as font linking and encryption, and generally any modification of content.
